JONESBORO, Ark. — The Jonesboro Police Department has taken a man into custody after he reportedly struck four people with his vehicle in two separate incidents Thursday evening.
Michael Vincent Coleman, 43, is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $5 million temporary bond. He is charged with criminal attempt — first-degree murder.
Police said Coleman hit two people in the parking lot of the Walmart Market on Harrisburg Road about 6:30 p.m. Both victims were transported to an area hospital. One was critically injured, while the other sustained minor injuries.
Police were called about six minutes later to Craighead Forest after reports of two people being struck on a pedestrian walking path. One of those victims was also listed in critical condition, while the other suffered minor injuries.
The driver left the scene of both incidents. The vehicle was identified and found abandoned, and Coleman fled on foot. Bystanders directed officers to where Coleman had fled, and a canine was deployed before he was taken into custody.
The incidents remain under investigation.
