DonorsChoose project to add sensory-friendly classroom at WJHS

WYNNE — Wynne Junior High School teacher Elizabeth Medlock is seeking money through DonorsChoose for a calm, sensory-friendly classroom for neurodiverse learners.

Medlock, a 6th through 8th grade teacher, said her goal is to build an inclusive environment where every student, regardless of learning style, has the tools to succeed.

The project would bring subtle, age-appropriate sensory supports into the ELA classroom, including fluorescent light covers and soft lamps, chair fidget bands, and sensory and focus supplies.

Medlock said the project will help strip away environmental stressors and allow students to direct their energy into books, developing their voices and building confidence as writers.

Donations can be made online through the DonorsChoose website.
