WYNNE — The Wynne School District has provided a weather update regarding today’s homecoming festivities.

If conditions are favorable, the gates to Yellowjacket Stadium and concessions will open at 5:30 p.m.

In case of severe weather, fans are asked to avoid the bleachers.

The homecoming ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. on the football field, if conditions allow. If not, the ceremony will be held inside Yellowjacket Arena and will be livestreamed from there on the Wynne High School Digital Cinema YouTube page and on the scoreboard at Yellowjacket Stadium.

Only those who received tickets to the ceremony will be allowed in Yellowjacket Arena if the ceremony is held there.

The Jackets game against Greene County Tech begins at 7 p.m. In case of rain, fans are asked to not bring umbrellas into the stadium because they limit visibility and to bring a poncho.

Wynne head coach Randy Coleman said he knows homecoming week can pose some distractions and the team has to take care of business come game time.

“I’m not ever going to complain about festivities associated with homecoming because that’s a big deal,” Coleman said. “That’s one of the great things about high school is being able to celebrate homecoming, being able to celebrate pride in the school and getting a lot of people back from years past and they celebrate reunions and that sort of thing. I’m not one of those that’s going to complain about it. When it comes down to it, we’ve got to be focused when it’s time to focus on what we’re there to do.”

Greene County Tech

Wynne and Greene County Tech are both 2-2 on the season. Wynne is 1-0 in conference play after beating Brookland 44-12 at Brookland last week. Tech lost its conference opener at Harding Academy, 39-13, last week.

“They’re big and physical. Offensively, they run the Gun-T which is a version of the Wing-T but done out of the shotgun. They’re 83 percent run out of that,” Coleman said. “The problems that come out of that are you could have a team that controls the clock. If they convert some third downs and they keep possession of the ball, it could give you some issues.

“It comes down to can they execute, can our defense continue to do what they did last week,” he added. “Can we progress offensively and continue to do the things that we did last week, which are run the ball effectively, have some success with play action passes and then can we improve special teams.”

The KWYN AM 1400/FM 102.9/FM 106.9, EAB Media Group app broadcast begins at 5:30 p.m. The livestream will begin at 6:50 p.m. on the app and at 6:30 p.m. on the Wynne YouTube page for homecoming festivities.
