WYNNE — Wynne High School EAST student Addyson Dooley is working on a project to digitize yearbooks for the high school. Dooley said the idea came from a student council trip.
“This idea kind of came about when we went to Collinsville (Illinois) for a student council conference, and they had this really cool electronic touchscreen,” she said. “It had all the yearbooks digitized, athletic awards, academic awards. It was super cool. We took a lot of pictures of it, and we came back to Wynne and were like this is going to be something that will be great to put in the new high school to bring a sense of community to everything, after everything that’s happened.”
Dooley is working with EAST facilitator Jerry Harvey and the district’s communications department on the project. The school has released a list of the yearbooks needed for the project, which includes:
- Wynne High School – 1925, 1929, 1931-1950, 1956, 1959, 1981, 1984, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021-2023
- Parkin High School – 1952, 1954, 1957, 1958, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1968, 1970-1975, 1982, 1985, 1986
The list includes yearbooks as far back as 1925, and as recently as 2023. The project will also include yearbooks from Parkin High School.
Wynne High School principal Dusty Meek said the project will be a way to remember those classes at the new high school.
“Everybody remembers going in an old high school, seeing all the composites and having to search for them,” he said. “That’s another nice thing is you can digitize all that and then you just go in and put your year, and you can flip and find your picture. … A lot of times schools just run out of room and don’t do it anymore. We’re excited to add that to it to continue to bring some of that tradition and history to the new building so people can come back and see themselves.”
