CHERRY VALLEY — The Class 2A state champion Cross County Thunderbirds top the “Best Under the Sun” picks for football, as announced by the Jonesboro-based CityYouth Ministries yesterday.
Cross County’s Danny Beale III, who is now an Arkansas Razorback, was named the Player of the Year with Van Paschal, who is moving from Cross County to Harrison, was recognized as the Coach of the Year.
Lexx Latham of Rivercrest is this year’s Newcomer of the Year.
Along with Beale, Cross County’s Caden Crawford, Makel Ward and Roderick Williams were named to the “Best Under the Sun” list along with Christian Wren of the Wynne Yellowjackets.
Other area players named to the “Best Under the Sun” list for football include Eli Blagg, Dee Buchanan, Jacob Gaines and Bari Shepherd of East Poinsett County. The Warriors fell to Cross County in the Class 2A championship game last December at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
