The Cross County School Board approved a bid to upgrade district safety at its meeting last night.
Superintendent Dr. Nathan Morris said board members approved a bid from Ditta Doors of Jonesboro to improve safety at the entrance to Cross County Elementary; and connections between the agri building and the main building, and gymnasium and band/safe room at the high school.
The district received a safety grant this past spring for the upgrades. Dr. Morris said the rest of the grant will be used for fencing, upgrading cameras, and blackout curtains.
In other news, the school board approved Shane Bell as the district’s delegate to the 2023 Arkansas School Boards Association conference. Bell was also recently elected to the ASBA board as the representative from District 7. Wade Halk and Derek Wood were also recognized as outstanding board members for completing 25 hours of training in school board service.
The board approved a bid of $3.37 per gallon from Tri-Star Energy for 7,400 gallons of diesel. The district also presented its annual report to the public.
