WYNNE — The Cross County Republican Party hosted a mayoral forum Thursday at the Bill Thomas Tech Center in Wynne.
The event featured mayoral candidates from the cities of Wynne and Parkin.
The Wynne candidates included incumbent Jennifer Hobbs and Juanita Crews. The Parkin candidates were Prongue Griffin and Sandra Lately.
Another Wynne candidate, DeAndra Warren, was in attendance but did not participate in the forum. Neither did any candidates from Cherry Valley or Hickory Ridge.
Wynne candidate Jeremy Bradshaw registered for the event but did not participate due to unforeseen circumstances.
Parkin Mayor Carolyn Slaughter did not attend the event.
Ty Griffin served as moderator and asked participants several questions, including their thoughts on the role of a mayor, their plans to improve infrastructure in their cities, and their goals for their first 24 months if elected.
A panel, which included members of the Cross County Quorum Court, also asked each candidate a follow-up question.
There will be several more opportunities for residents to hear from candidates for office.
The Cherry Fest Committee will hold a Meet the Candidates event for candidates in Cherry Valley on Monday, Oct. 5, at the fire station. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Questions can be submitted to candidates in advance online.
The Cross County Farm Bureau will also hold its annual Meet the Candidates event Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Tech Center.
