Cross County remains under burn ban, others lifted as dry conditions persist

EASTERN ARKANSAS — Several counties in Arkansas have lifted burn bans as dry conditions remain a problem statewide.

There are now 67 Arkansas counties with a burn ban. That is down from all 75 counties.

Cross County remains under a burn ban, as does most of northeast Arkansas. Clay, Independence and Lawrence counties in northeast Arkansas are among the counties to lift burn bans.

Heat indices are expected to remain in the triple digits this week before the potential for rainfall arrives on Sunday.

The entire state remains under a high risk for wildfire danger, a three out of four on the scale. Under a high risk, fires can ignite easily and spread quickly, and fires may become serious if not attacked early.
