Cross County Chamber welcomes new leadership, explores collaborative opportunities

The Cross County Chamber board welcomed two new faces during their monthly meeting Thursday. Members were introduced to new Wynne Economic Development CEO Bevin Hunter and Crossroads Coalition Executive Director Alicia Woolman.

Woolman, who was hired last fall, spoke about the opportunities the two entities have in working together. The Crossroads Coalition encompasses seven counties in Eastern Arkansas. Woolman said not all of those communities have as thriving a chamber as the one in Cross County.

Chamber director Ashley Brumley talked about early plans for the annual banquet in January and the possibility of having a guest speaker. Marketing and membership manager Lexi Gahr talked about a chamber member luncheon being planned for this fall. The luncheon will allow the chamber to give back to its members and highlight what the organization does throughout the year. The luncheon will be offered free to members.

Tickets are now on sale for the chamber’s “Salute to Education” golf ball drop, held each September at The Ridges at Village Creek. Brumley said she hopes to incorporate a golf tournament into the event starting next year.

Brumley also said quotes will be presented to the chamber and EDC boards for office renovations. That work – if approved – would not start until after Wynne High School students leave the Bill Thomas Tech Center.
