Craighead County man sentenced to 15 years for fatal shooting in Jonesboro drug deal

JONESBORO, Arkansas — A 19-year-old Craighead County man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a murder he committed two years ago.

Jaylon Sturdivant pleaded guilty this week to second-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Madison Wilfong. Wilfong was found lying on a sidewalk outside of a residence in Jonesboro.

An investigation indicated that Sturdivant had paid money to Wilfong in a drug deal. Wilfong later discovered that the bills were counterfeit and encountered Sturdivant about the issue.

Sturdivant shot and killed Wilfong during an argument.
