JONESBORO — Craighead County has been awarded a $15,000 Court Security Grant through the Arkansas Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) to enhance safety and security at local court facilities. The grant will fund the purchase of an X-ray machine, significantly improving screening and security operations at the courthouse.
State Representative Johnny Rye expressed his support for the initiative, stating:
“I am pleased to see Craighead County receive this funding to strengthen courthouse security and help protect the public, court personnel, law enforcement officers, and everyone who conducts business in our courts. This investment will provide an important tool for maintaining a safe environment while ensuring our judicial system can continue serving the community effectively.”
The Court Security Grant Program is administered by the Administrative Office of the Courts in partnership with the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Security and Emergency Preparedness. This year, the program is distributing $500,000 in grant funding to counties across Arkansas for court security and emergency preparedness improvements in circuit and district courts. The new X-ray machine will enhance the county’s ability to screen items entering court facilities and support ongoing efforts to maintain a secure courthouse environment for all visitors and employees.
Representative Johnny Rye serves District 36 in the Arkansas House of Representatives, which includes portions of Craighead County.
