PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Arkansas Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee recently traveled to Providence, Rhode Island, to attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference.
Stacy Witcher of Cherry Valley serves as the District 1 representative on that committee.
The National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference featured over 600 educators from across the country who are involved in Ag in the Classroom programs. Ag in the Classroom is an educational program that helps students learn about agriculture and where their food, fiber and natural resources come from.
During the conference, the Arkansas contingent visited Green City Growers in Boston, Massachusetts, which maintains the rooftop gardens at Fenway Park and other businesses. Farmers with Green City Growers are also involved in a number of school garden projects in the Boston area.
