Cherry Valley secures funding for new water treatment facility

The City of Cherry Valley is one step closer to having a new water treatment facility.

The city recently received a letter from the Arkansas Department of Agriculture approving principal forgiveness of some $2.48 million and a loan of just over $825,000 for the project. The 20-year loan would have an interest rate of 1.75%.

Cherry Valley Mayor Adam Love presented the letter to aldermen during their regular monthly meeting last week. The council approved the agreement with the Department of Ag and will perform a water rate study.

The matter was the only thing of note on the agenda. The Cherry Valley City Council will next meet on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at city hall.
