The City of Cherry Valley has received its first payment from a solar operation planned in the city.
TED Renewables has agreed to pay Cherry Valley $125,000 per year for eight years – a total of $1 million – through a community grant agreement. Cherry Valley Mayor Adam Love said the first payment of $125,000 will be applied towards the new city park. The city incorporated to the south, to include Carwell Farms where the solar operation will be located.
Mayor Love said the company expects to break ground by next year and have the solar farm operational in 2025. Under the agreement, TED will make its next payment to the city on or before Sept. 12, 2024. The remaining payments will be made after the project is completely operational, starting the first January on the date of that month’s regular city council meeting.
In other news, the City of Cherry Valley has extended its management agreement with the Vanndale-Birdeye Water Association for another two years. The payment has also increased from $38,400 to $41,250.
The city has also entered into a new contract with Next Step Innovation for I.T. services.
