Cherry Valley City Council votes to expand housing with new duplexes

More housing may soon be coming to Cherry Valley following a vote earlier this month by the city council.

During their October meeting, the Cherry Valley City Council agreed to rezone some property on Dye and Walls streets to allow for some new duplexes to be built.

Blake Stricklin requested a change in the zoning maps to build two duplexes on Dye Street and another three to four on Walls Street. Each duplex would be about 2,400 square feet each.

For Stricklin to proceed, the property needed to be changed from Residential-2 to Residential-3. The council unanimously approved that change.

In other news, the council approved a resolution to certify millage for the City of Cherry Valley. The millage will remain the same at 4.75 mills.

Tyler Burgess and Noah Pendley have been hired as part-time police officers. Pendley will also serve as the city’s dog catcher.

The Cherry Valley City Council will next meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Cherry Valley City Hall.
