Cherry Valley City Clerk-Recorder-Treasurer Stacey Bennett has been recognized as Clerk of the Year by the Arkansas City Clerks, Recorders, and Treasurers Association. Bennett received the award last month. She was honored for the accomplishment after the Cherry Valley City Council meeting Tuesday night.
Bennett also serves as department secretary for the City of Cherry Valley. She is currently the secretary for the ACCRTA. Cherry Valley Mayor Adam Love said Bennett is often called upon when there are questions from other city clerks and recorder-treasurers.
In other news, the council received an update on the new Cherry Valley city park. Mayor Love said the goal is to have the ball fields ready to play on this season. Dirt work has begun on the city-owned parks, which will be leased by and branded for the Cross County School District.
