WYNNE — The Cross County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors considered donations to area festivals and local organizations during yesterday’s (Thursday) meeting.

The board agreed to keep its sponsorship at $1,000 for Farm Fest in Wynne, Cherry Fest in Cherry Valley, and Hickory Fest in Hickory Ridge for this year. Chamber director Ashley Brumley said the board agreed two years to donate a flat $1,000 to all area festivals. Brumley said Hickory Fest has increased their top sponsorship level so she wanted to bring the matter before the board.

Members also agreed to make a $500 donation to the Cross County High School FFA if the program agrees to help during Farm Fest. According to a representative from FFA, the group was not able to host their usual fundraiser this year.

A donation to the Wynne Meyer Senior Citizens Center was tabled. Jessica Harris from the senior center will be invited to discuss their request at the Chamber’s May meeting. Board members also discussed a potential donation to East Arkansas Community College for their annual golf tournament.

The board voted to remove the names of Chad Winn, Bruce Beck, Anthony Jarrett, and Whitney Carter from the Chamber’s bank account and add the current executive committee of Kevin Watts, Jennifer Wallin, Zach Morris, and Vicki Trimble. Brumley will also have access to view the account, but will not have signing rights. She said there are times she needs to ensure a payment has cleared the bank, but she did not have that authorization.

Members also discussed volunteers for Mary Ann’s Art Walk. The event will be hosted by the Cross County Arts Council in downtown Wynne next Saturday, April 27.

The board also welcomed new members Wild Jumps Bounce House and RidgeField Rice.
