HUGHES, Ark. — The St. Francis County Sheriff’s Department and the Arkansas State Police are investigating the cause and time of death of a person whose remains were found on private property in the Hughes area Sunday night.
The remains have not been positively identified and officials are withholding the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of family.
St. Francis County Sheriff Bobby May said the remains were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory yesterday, where forensic specialists will work to establish an identity, cause of death and time of death.
May said no foul play is suspected at this time, but that could change pending the outcome from the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office.
