Arkansas to host Japan delegation for agricultural technology summit

LITTLE ROCK — The state of Arkansas will host a delegation from Japan in October for an agricultural technology summit.

Arkansas leads the nation in rice production. Japan is one of the state’s top foreign investors, along with the United Kingdom and France.

The summit will be held Oct. 13 in Little Rock, but there will be invitation-only off-site visits to agricultural institutions throughout the state Oct. 12, 14 and 15.

Among the speakers will be Arkansas Agriculture Secretary Wes Ward of Lake City and Arkansas State University System President Dr. Todd Shields.

The summit is being hosted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers offices in the United States and Japan, in partnership with Japan’s National Agriculture and Food Research Organization.
