LITTLE ROCK — The state of Arkansas has requested an extension of the federal waiver authorizing its Medicaid expansion program to allow legislators to create and implement a replacement.
The current waiver is set to expire at the end of the year.
The waiver allows Arkansas to purchase coverage for Medicaid expansion through private insurance plans, with the state Medicaid program paying the premiums and providing additional payments that reduce or eliminate an enrollee’s out-of-pocket expenses for medical care.
Almost 207,000 Arkansans are enrolled in what’s called ARHOME.
