Area schools, organizations receive Dollar General literacy grants

EASTERN ARKANSAS — Several area schools and organizations have received youth literacy grants through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

The recipients include Trumann Elementary and Middle Schools, the Boys & Girls Club of Crittenden County and Hope Beyond Walls Foundation in West Memphis, the Jonesboro Westside Consolidated School District, and the Searcy School District.

The grants are part of more than $4.1 million awarded nationwide for professional development opportunities and to purchase books, technology, equipment or materials for kindergarten through 12th grade students.

Applications for the 2027 Dollar General Literacy Foundation grant cycle will be available starting in January. The grants aim to support schools, libraries and nonprofit organizations within a 15-mile radius of a Dollar General store or distribution center in implementing new literacy initiatives or expanding existing ones.
