AJSCPS announces annual symposium on voting rights

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Journal of Social Change and Public Service (AJSCPS) is excited to announce its upcoming annual symposium, “Breaking Down Barriers to the Ballot,” focusing on the critical issues surrounding voting rights and strategies to combat voter suppression. The symposium will take place on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law, 1201 McMath Ave. Little Rock, AR 72202.

The event will feature insightful discussions led by experts in the field, addressing national challenges related to voting rights and effective strategies against voter suppression. With the upcoming elections drawing near, the symposium’s focus on this timely topic is essential.

In addition to discussions, the symposium will incorporate a social action component aimed at supporting local organizations dedicated to enhancing ballot access for Arkansas residents.

“We are excited to host this symposium and provide a platform for meaningful conversations about voting rights,” said Abriel Williams, Events Editor of the AJSCPS Editorial Board. “It’s crucial that we address these challenges head-on and work together towards ensuring equal access to the ballot for all.”

The event will be a hybrid gathering, offering both in-person attendance and accessibility via Zoom. Participants can engage in discussions and contribute to the conversation from wherever they are. Registration is free and open to all.

As the date approaches, more information will be provided. Visit the AJSCPS website for updates.
